FAQs

Blenders

Q. Why won’t my blender turn on?
1. Is the blender plugged into a working outlet?
2. Is the jar positioned on the base correctly?
3. Did you select a power setting?

If all of the above has been checked and the blender will still not power on, please contact consumer service

Q. Why won't my blender crush ice?
A. To ensure great results when crushing ice, please follow the steps below:
1. Feed in 1-3 cubes of ice at a time, making sure not to put too much ice into the jar.
2. Pulse to crush ice
3. Add 1-cup of liquid into the blender jar.

Q. What are the different options or speeds for?
A. The speeds give flexibility in the amount of power allowed from the motor to satisfy a variety of blending applications.

Choppers

Q. Why won't the chopper start when I press the pulse button?
A. Because the bowl and cover are not locked in place. The interlock safety switch is not engaged, because the cover has not been turned far enough clockwise to engage. First, make sure the bowl is locked onto the base properly. Then ensure the cover is locked on the bowl. The cover should be turned clockwise until the vertical tab engages the choppers safety mechanism. Press the pulse button.

Q. What is the capacity of the chopper bowl?
A. 1.5 cups

Q. Will the chopper crush ice?
A. No, it is not recommended that your chopper is used to crush ice as this will damage the blades.

Coffee makers

Q. How do I clean my coffeemaker?
A. Unplug the unit before cleaning. The unit must never be cleaned under running water and must never be immersed in water. The glass carafe, the lid and the filter basket can be washed in the dishwasher. Clean all other parts with a damp cloth only.

Q. Why does the brewed coffee taste bitter?
A. It could be cause by a combination of the following:
• The coffeemaker needs to be cleaned.
• The wrong coffee grind is being used; use only coffee ground for automatic drip coffeemakers.

Electric grills

Q. How do I clean my Electric Grill/
A. Unplug cord from wall outlet and wait for the grill to cool completely before cleaning. Remove the non-stick plates, use a sponge or nylon scouring pad with liquid detergent and warm water. Do not use any abrasive cleaners or metal pads as they can damage the nonstick coating. Rinse and dry. The drip tray is dishwasher safe.

Q. What types of utensils are safe to use when cooking with the electric grill?
A. Because of the nonstick coating, use only wooden, nylon or plastic utensils to avoid scratching the nonstick surface.

Electric skillets

Q. What types of utensils are safe to use when cooking with the skillet?
A. Because of the nonstick coating, use only wooden, nylon or plastic utensils to avoid scratching the nonstick surface.

Q. My skillet has an odor and smokes a little when I turn it on. Is this normal?
A. Due to manufacturing processes, during initial use of this appliance, some slight smoke and/or odor may be detected. This is normal with many heating appliances and it is not a cause for concern.

Q. I’ve plugged in the skillet. Why won’t it start working? A. The temperature control might not be inserted properly into the socket in the appliance. Make sure the temperature control is securely inserted into the side of the skillet.
Note: For best results, always insert the temperature control into the unit before plugging into electrical outlet. Then adjust the temperature control to the desired setting.

Q. How do I clean my skillet?
A. Wait for the skillet to cool completely before cleaning. Unplug cord from wall outlet and remove the temperature control from the appliance. Wash the pan and lid with hot soapy water. The lid can be washed on both the upper and lower racks of the dishwasher. If washing by hand, use a sponge or nylon scouring pad with liquid detergent. Do not use any abrasive cleaners or metal pads as they can damage the nonstick coating. Rinse and dry.

Hand mixers

Q. Why do my beaters fall out of the mixer?
A. There is a retaining gear inside of the hand mixer that holds the beaters into place. If the gear is broken, the beaters may fall out. Note: When mixing, do not push or force against the sides of the bowl, as this will cause premature wear.

Q. Why isn’t my mixer turning on?
A. If the mixer isn't turning on, check the following:
1. Is the mixer plugged into a working outlet?
2. Has a speed setting been selected?

Mini-fridges and wine coolers

Q. What is the temperature range of my Culinair Mini-Fridge/Wine Cooler?
A. All Culinair mini-fridges and wine coolers use a thermoelectric refrigeration technology, which eliminates the need of a compressor. This type of refrigeration is capable of reducing the internal temperatures of the mini-fridge or wine cooler up to 30° more than ambient temperature. In an average home with an average temperature of around 75° the mini-fridge or wine cooler’s adjustable range is 44°-53°.  The FDA advises that food must be properly refrigerated and kept at a temperature below 40° Fahrenheit to be safe for consumption.

Note: Culinair mini-fridges and wine coolers are not intended for garage or outdoor use.

Q : I bought this as a birthday gift. It is a nice addition to the garage, but it doesn't keep drinks as ice cold as I had hoped for?

Suggestions :

To assure your refrigerated cooler works at the maximum efficiency it was designed for, you should install it in a location where there is proper air circulation and electrical connections.
The following are recommended clearances around the refrigerated cooler:
• Sides: 2"
• Top: 2"
• Back: 4"

The refrigerator should be located in the coolest area of the room, away from heat producing appliances, and out of the direct sunlight. One characteristic of thermoelectric units is the length of time it requires to recover from having the door opened and shut frequently. It may be necessary to wait longer for the temperature to return to its former level once the door has been opened for too long. This is normal for the type of unit.

Your Refrigerated Cooler will automatically maintain the temperature level you select. The thermostat is divided into 7 levels with a temperature setting in between each one.

At first, set the dial to HIGH(Coldest) for 3 hours before adjusting the temperature to your needs.

Food temperature appears too warm.
• Frequent door openings.
• Allow time for recently added warm food to reach fresh food temperature.
• Check gaskets for proper seal.
• Adjust temperature control to colder setting.

Steam irons

Q. How much water can the Iron water tank hold?
A. A little over 6 fl. oz.

Q. What kind of water should I use when filling the tank?
A. Regular tap water is fine, but if you have very hard water mix ½ tap and ½ distilled water to minimize mineral deposits that may affect the steam function.

Q. Do I need to clean the iron?
A. Clean the iron heat plate occasionally, especially if you use starch when ironing, or feel resistance while pressing.

Q. How do I clean the iron?
A. Starch, Fabric softeners, and detergents may build up on the heat plate over time. To clean the heat plate, unplug the iron and allow it to cool. Rub the heat plate with a soft cloth and soapy water. Allow iron to completely dry before connecting to outlet and uses.

Toasters

Q. Why is my toaster creating an odor?
During manufacturing, the toasting elements can have dust that needs to burn off before first using your toaster. Please follow the steps below:
1. Without inserting any food into the bread slots, push the bread lever all the way down until it locks. (The cartridge will not lock if the toaster is not plugged into a power source.)
2. The first toasting process will preheat the new elements and burn off any dust, which may have accumulated during storage. It is normal for this burn off to create an odor.

Q. Why is my toast not toasted evenly?
If your toast is not toasting even, your toaster is in need of cleaning. Please see below cleaning steps:
After use and before cleaning, unplug the toaster power cord from the power outlet and wait for the toaster to cool.
1. Wipe the outside of the toaster with a damp cloth and then dry it with another cloth or paper towel. Do not use abrasive cleaners; they will damage the toaster's finish.
WARNING: Do not use any pointed or sharp articles for cleaning the inside of the toaster; this may damage the toaster.
2. Lightly tap the side of the toaster to dislodge any crumbs caught in the toast chamber. Remove the crumb tray and empty it. Wipe the tray clean with a damp cloth or place it in the top rack of your dishwasher for cleaning. Be certain to put the crumb tray back into the toaster before using the toaster again.
WARNING: Empty the crumb tray frequently. Crumbs will accumulate in the crumb tray and could catch fire if not emptied periodically. Wipe the non-stick surface on the top of the bread slots with a damp cloth and dry it with another cloth or paper towel.

Q. Why won't the latch stay down on my toaster?
If the latch on your toaster will not stay down, check the following:
A. Is the toaster plugged into a working outlet? The toaster must be plugged in and have power running to it or the lever will not stay down.

Q. Does my toaster have Anti-Jam protection?
A. All toasters manufactured after November 2001 are equipped with the UL required Anti-Jam. What this means is that if a toasting product gets jammed, the toaster will shut off automatically.

Q. Which setting should I select on my toaster?
A. When adjusting the lighter/darker setting, you can adjust how light and how dark the toaster toasts your food. Your selection should vary based on the moisture content, thickness of bread and your darkness preference. The setting will remain unless the toaster is unplugged or the settings are changed.
